Amalfi / Atrani / Capri

The last leg of our journey came by way of ferry from Salerno to Amalfi in the province of Salerno. Amalfi is at the mouth of a deep ravine, at the foot of Monte Cerreto. Dramatic cliffs and colorful scenario are everywhere. We stayed in Atrani which is just on the other side of a portion of Monte Cerreto. Accessible on foot via a tunnel and/or what felt like a million stairs. It's almost as if someone came in with a chisel and chipped out paths and steps so little apartments could be built all along the way. If you go to Amalfi, please to climb a LOT of steps wherever you go. But it's so worth it.

Atrani was the most relaxing part of the trip. It's a small village with less than a 1000 people. There is a small piazza at the bottom of the hill with a couple great restaurant (especially Mistral Atrani). It's another place I'd genuinely enjoy returning too someday.

During our stay in Atrani we also took a chartered boat to the Island of Capri. It was a fun and relaxing 2.5 hour boat road with 10 other people representing Germany, Canada, Australia, and America. Capri is a quaint little island. A bit expensive. Our most expensive meal of the entire trip was lunch in Capri. By this point in our journey we were weary travelers and rather than climb more hills and traverse more stairs, we spied a couple shaded beach chairs and just sat and listened to the water and enjoyed the summer breeze (and a beer or two).
